November 9th @ Joe’s Pub with Carl Hancock Rux and HOMEOSTASIS

I’ll Be performing With Carl the evening after Thanksgiving. I performed on the record “Homeostasis” which will be performed that evening and co-wrote the Title Tune as well as “Old Man” (a repurposing of one of my Victoria Secret tunes) and “ONE”. There are some heavy hitters on this show.

Press:
The multitalented, infinitely forward-slashed wunderkind (and the first artist to ever perform at Joe’s Pub) Carl Hancock Rux returns home to celebrate the Pub’s 15th anniversary and the release of his fourth studio album, HOMEOSTASIS: a soul infused jazz-scape of incredibly layered, textured songs set to his gripping oral artistry—a sensual slinking of Billie Holiday meets William S. Burroughs adding Brecht and Weill to its lyricism. Described by some critics as the male heir to the throne of Nina Simone, with a style closer to John Lee Hooker and Bill Withers, Rux’s rhythm-laden sounds are equally informed by jazz, blues, and gospel. Homeostasis is a paean to the ultimate need for “stillness” in an often all too jittery world. For this performance, Rux will be joined by a 21st century jazz set featuring veteran Grammy award winning guitarist Vernon Reid; violinists Daniel Bernard Roumain and John Chiu; much touted jazz saxophonist James Brandon Lewis; sound master Donald Sturge McKenzie II; pianists LonKaiser and Grammy nominee Gerald Clayton; and neo-soul singers Martha RedBone and Kimberly Nichole
